  • Does a Nurse Health Coach have to be a registered nurse?
    Yes.
  • What state is your primary residence? (where you spend the majority of your of your time)
    I am able to Coach all that have primary residence in the lavender colored states. Please see map below. What Are Compact Nursing States? Compact nursing states refer to the Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC), which is an agreement between states that allows nurses to have one compact state nursing license that gives them the ability to practice in other states that are part of the agreement. Originally developed in 2000, by 2015, the license had grown to include 25 states. Maryland, the first state to sign into law, saw an immediate need for nurses and looked to nurses in neighboring states to help fill the gaps. To help streamline the process for nurses, the Enhanced Nursing Licensure Compact (eNLC) was implemented in 2018 and included standards for licensure, which the original compact license lacked. For example, the NLC did not require applicants to undergo state and federal fingerprint-based criminal background checks, whereas the new eNLC does. Guam (Guam is allowing nurses who hold active, unencumbered, multi-state licenses issued by Nurse Licensure Compact member states to practice in Guam under their multi-state licenses.)

How great would it be to have someone with a medical background take the time to listen to your health concerns, help explain your provider's plan of care for you, explain lab tests that were ordered, or guide you in your journey to the level of health and wellness you deserve. Coaching holds you, the client, accountable to achieve your goals, such as a workout partner or a teammate would be there to push you to reach your potential. Working with someone provides companionship and accountability.

    Nurse Health Coaching combines the education and medical knowledge of a nurse in health and wellness to help meet clients' physical, dietary, emotional, and relationships or spiritual needs. A Nurse Health Coach can work in a group setting, individual, or in a contractual setting to help clients reach their health and wellness goals.
  • Is Nurse Health Coaching a specialty?
    Yes, Nurse Health Coaching is a specialty. It focuses on applying coaching principles and techniques within a nursing framework to support clients in achieving their health goals and promote overall well-being. Nurse Health Coaches empower clients in making healthy, informed decisions which will often include behavior modifications.
  • What does Nurse Health Coaching involve?
    Nurse Health Coaching (NHC) involves working with the whole person using principles and modalities that integrate body-mind-emotion-spirit-environment to promote health, wellness, and well-being while they facilitate their client's growth and healing. NHC's are supportive and empowering which help the clients to build on their strengths rather than focusing on their weaknesses. NHC can provide guidance and resources to clients who are the expert of their own needs and choices.
